Image Brush is used to reveal the original image through other effects. After you have applied several effects to an image you can use Image Brush to mix the original image back into the composition wherever you brush. The example to the left of the woman shows several effects applied to make the scene look contrasted. The effects work together to form this composited look. The woman's face and parts of her body are made to be too dark, however. The Image Brush is applied at the top of the layer stack to reveal parts of the original image through all the effect layers beneath it. Varying opacity settings can be used to reveal either a full or partially opaque version of the original wherever you brush.
Image Brush can be used to brush on to protect areas from having effects change them.
The Image Brush effect can be stacked and reordered on the layers palette as needed to change the effects that are applied to the image through the Image Brush and which ones are not.
The Image Brush works well with lower opacity settings used on the brush so that the original image is only partially revealed through an effect wherever you brush.
