Distort Edge can be used to roughen and distort the edges of the effect to give it different edge treatments and looks. The brush controls allow you to define where the effect takes place and how much of the effect to apply to the region you are interested in distorting.

Distort Edge works by displacing and distorting the edge mask and reshaping it wherever you brush with the Distort Brush tool.

You can brush over an area and then change the brush pattern to see new permutations of the effect rendered along the previously defined brush strokes.
