Installation Instructions for Plug-Ins
If you are having problems with installing our software first make sure you have uninstalled any previous versions before proceeding with these instructions.
See the uninstall instructions here to remove any copies you may have already tried to install on your computer.

Step One
Close all running applications before proceeding to install our software. This includes Adobe Photoshop, any of our programs or other applications that may be running.

Step Two
Identify WHERE you have Photoshop installed on your computer. Our software has to be installed in the right location before it will work. In order for Photoshop to recognize the program as a Plug-In, it must be installed into the Plug-Ins folder. The screenshot below shows where the Plug-Ins folder is located (screenshot is taken on XP with Photoshop CS3).

Photoshop CS3

* Photoshop is typically installed in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3 directory.

Step Three
Double click on the installer to begin the installation process. Click through the first few screens until you get to the one shown below:

Select Install Location

At this point in the install process our installer will in most cases detect the most recent versions of Photoshop that are installed on your system and display them in the Install Location menu. If this matches the location you verified under Step One of these instructions, then click the Continue button to proceed with the installation. If you need to install the plug-in into a different location, choose Custom Location from under the menu as shown in the screenshot below:

Select Custom Location

* If you choose a custom location you must ensure that the directory you select is the Plug-Ins folder for Photoshop.  After clicking Continue, you will be shown a window that allows you to manually select the install location.  You will need to double click on Adobe, double click on Adobe Photoshop (version number), and then double click on Plug-Ins.  Then click the OK button. The plug-ins MUST go inside the Plug-Ins folder for Photoshop or they won't show up in the Filter menu when you run Photoshop.

Step Four
After the installer is done you should launch Photoshop and open a photo. When you have a photo open go to the Filter menu and look at the bottom of the menu and you should see Auto FX Software listed. Select this menu and then you should see the software you just installed listed there.

If you don't see it listed then you have not installed the software in the right location. You will need to manually go to the Plug-Ins folder (i.e. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins) and visually confirm the software has been installed there. If it has not been installed there then you did not select the right directory during the installation.  You will need to uninstall the program and reinstall.  When you reinstall BE SURE YOU SELECT THE PLUG-INS FOLDER AS THE INSTALL LOCATION.

Install Instructions for the Stand-Alone Version
Each of our products includes both a stand-alone version and a plug-in version. While the plug-in version must be installed to a specific location to work, if you are not going to use the plug-in version in Photoshop you can freely install the stand-alone version to a location of your choosing and use the software just like you would any other application. Typically users will select the Program Files folder on Windows. After installing the application version a shortcut will be placed on your desktop.

Our software on a typical install will be located here: C:\Program Files\Auto FX Software
